The four weeks stretching from the end of September till the end of October are going to be out of control. Here's a list of events I'll be attending:
MC Chris at Dante's on September 29th
Rose City Rollers on September 30th
Shaolin Kung Fu Spectacular on October 1st
Nada Surf with Guster at the Crystal Ballroom on October 4th
Zombiewalk First Thursday on October 5th
Too Much Coffee Man: The Opera on October 7th
You Say Party! We Say Die! and Thunderbirds are Now! on October 9th, 10 p.m. at the Towne Lounge (Too tired that night to do check it out)
John Hodgman at Powell's on October 10th (Had too many things to do for the Bus Project to make this one, cry cry)
Sufjan Stevens at the Crystal Ballroom on October 13th
Electric Six at the Doug Fir on October 16th
Candidates Gone Wild at the Roseland, also on October 16th (Thank God Electric Six starts late--I plan to dash across the river some time around 10:30-ish to see if they've started)
The Decemberists at the Crystal Ballroom on October 17th and 18th
Al Gore at the Rose Quarter on October 24th
Regina Spektor at Lola's Room on October 25th
Richard Dawkins at Powell's on October 27th (Schwern's voting party is the same night, and the appeal of reading ballot measures out loud in silly voices wins)
Viva Voce and Silversun Pickups at the Doug Fir on October 28th
Trick or Vote at the Crystal Ballroom on October 29th
I have a nagging feeling that I have something to go to on October 20th, but for the life of me, I cannot remember what it is. (Wow, typing out "for the life of me, I cannot remember" has just made me think of "The Freshmen" by The Verve Pipe. Yayfor one-hit-wonder 90s alternabands with sappy radio ballads that I TOTALLY LOVED and now feel slightly ashamed for liking!)
Those of you who wish to accompany me to these events are Highly Encouraged to do so. As far as I know,
xwrn is coming with me to MC Chris, the Roller Derby and TMCM:TO,
borktron is attending the Shaolin Kung Fu Spectacular and the Rose City Rollers (though he doesn't know about the latter yet, ha ha), Michael (not to be confused with
borktron,
xwrn or the myriad of Michaels who are also friends of mine) might go to Nada Surf with me,
never_here,
arashikami,
davethegreat,
marsala1 and a bunch of other friends are going to be at the Zombie Walk, I'm dragging
theotherjay along to see Sufjan Stevens, one of The Decemberists concerts and Al Gore, and
arashikami,
lilithsaintcrow and
crab_caution are planning to check out Regina Spektor.
Whew. When did I become such a social fucking butterfly?

I vote you make a trip to Portland for that, baby, if only because Jay's definitely coming with me to Al Gore, so I have company covered for that. (Why, yes, it is pretty much ALL ABOUT ME and MY NEEDS.)
But let me decide which event you're leaning towards, 'cause if you decide on Al Gore, I'll buy our tickets so we can all sit together, le squee.
