WHY do I subscribe to Powell's Book News again? That thing is nothing but trouble for me, my wallet and my bookshelves.

Oh, and relatedly: Irvine Welsh has a new book out, one about Restaurant Inspectors Gone Wild, and he's going to be in town for a reading on August 24th. Seriously: what's with all these delectable food-related books catching my eye alla sudden?

I've eaten fiddlehead ferns. They grew in our back yard.

Well, hey, I never did get around to getting you a birthday present, and I forgot the Totally Awesome Idea I had....

The people who wrote The Sustainable Kitchen run a restaurant near Ashland. I'd totally love to check them out the next time I'm in that area.

Well, I havn't gotten you one either, so it's ok. Just reading the reviews of those books got me thinking. Too bad I'm reduced to eating cheap eggs and ramen because of certain circumstances. I just got 15 packages of noodles for $1.35!
