Everyone who knows me, knows that while I love critters of all sorts, I'm a cat person. Cats, in my opinion, strike the perfect balance: they're not as high-maintenance as dogs (and God knows they smell a lot better), and if you feed them the right high-protein diet their litterbox won't smell like much of anything; they're also more trainable and interactive than rodents and lagomorphs, as well as a whole lot less fragile.

However, despite my love of Felis silvestris catus, I maintain that there's nothing cuter than a rabbit. Baby rabbits, in particular, can literally make your heart stop with their obnoxious cuterifficness.

Warning: do not look below if you're prone to cardiac arrest.

Here in England, ducks have right of way crossing the road. You have to stop for them and let them pass. Uh huh. True. Seriously. (Geese, too, but that's beside the point.)

Anyway... Snarl, driving home yesterday, saw a duck AND a bunny crossing the road together. No shit. Duck as crossing guard!

I'm surprised space-time didn't collapse under the tremendous concentration of cuteness and spontaneously form a black hole. A CUTE black hole.

But I've seen all these before thanks to the Cute Overload livejournal feed! I require NEW CUTENESS!

Indeed! I hope Jay's efforts have gone some way towards correcting this travesty. Here are my offerings:

They're just good friends. No, really. Just buddies. Hanging out. And stuff.

OMG. That baby tapir. Seriously.

I am such a sucker for tapirs and aardvarks. The baby aardvarks that were in Cute Overload a couple of weeks back seriously exploderated my braaaaain.

I am seeing a relationship between snuffly snouts on baby animals and probability of Jess's brian being exploderated.

Hmmmm.

Please rate your brain exploderation on a scale of 1 to "omg as;doklgjnawighbjjkfdljg head a-sploded" when viewing the following pictures:

1.

Baby anteater

2.

Baby pangolin

3.

Baby armadillo

4.

Another baby tapir (OK, this one made my brain melt a little from the Sheer Power of Cute)

5.

Baby aardvark

I will instead rank them in order of head-asplodingness as they all did it a little bit.

1, baby anteater = SUPER MOST DESTRUCTION, because of the dopey look on his face.

4, baby tapir = next SUPER MOST DESTRUCTION, almost tied because of the EARS, aaagh!

5, baby aardvark = still super squee omg

3, baby armadillo = quite reasonably head asplodey

2, baby pangolin = in last place only because there is a SLIGHTLY more squee head asplodey worthy picture of that very same pangolin:

The little paws! They defeat my brain!!

Also, if we're doing snuffly snouts, we can't possibly forget the lovely hedgehog!

OMG hedgehogs! Oh I loves them. Cranky little bastards, but so cute.

I totally forgot about a class of animals that have the cutest, snuffliest, teeniest little snouts: Shrews!

In penance, I offer three (3) pictures of shrewish cuteness.

Also, HEY LOOK A MOLE!
